What You'll Learn

1. Single vs Joint Instruction:
Discover the key differences between single and joint instruction in case management. We'll cover practical examples, focusing on barriers that commonly arise, strategies for overcoming them, and understanding what works well in practice.

2. Recent Case Law and Case Manager Practice:
Stay up-to-date with recent case law affecting case managers and learn what it means for your day-to-day practice. We’ll explore the following landmark cases and discuss their implications:

  • Wilde v Shaw (2024)
  • Muyepa v Ministry of Defence (2022)
  • Scarcliffe v Brampton Valley Group Ltd [2023]

4. Revisiting the Rehabilitation Code:
The Rehabilitation Code is a critical framework for case managers. We’ll revisit its importance from different perspectives:

  • Insurers: How insurers view the Rehab Code and its application.
  • Claimants: Understand claimant expectations and how to align practices with their needs.
  • Solicitors: Insights into solicitors' approach and expectations.
  • IRCM (Institute of Registered Case Managers): The IRCM perspective on integrating the Code into case management practice.

5. Defining the Professional Case Manager:
What does a modern case manager look like? We’ll explore:

  • Recruitment: The diverse backgrounds that professionals bring to case management and how this diversity strengthens the field.
  • Qualifications and Registration Bodies: Clarifying the essential qualifications and exploring the role of regulatory and registration bodies.
  • Future of the Profession: A look at emerging trends and the IRCM’s role in shaping the future of case management.
