Meet the presenter: 

Charlotte Fletcher is a Senior Associate in the Court of Protection department at Hugh James and currently heads up the firm’s Court of Protection offering in London and Southampton having previously been a leading member of the team based in Cardiff. Charlotte has an active role in the management of the department on a national basis.

Charlotte manages a caseload of complex property and financial affairs deputyship matters, the vast majority of which have received significant awards of damages, or where the litigation claims are ongoing. Charlotte will deal with all aspects of these cases to include the investment of funds, purchase 

and adaptation of property, the employment of care staff and all other issues that arise. Charlotte also deals with complex applications to the Court of Protection, both on her professional matters as well as for lay clients. Charlotte has built strong relationships with case managers, financial advisors, therapists and property managers across England and Wales.

Charlotte is a member of CoPPA and is on the CoPPA London committee. She has also recently been appointed as a committee member for the Professional Deputy Forum.

Charlotte is experienced at speaking at events or conferences, both in person and virtually. Most recently, she has spoken at the department’s inaugural Court of Protection virtual conference, to include a life question and answer forum. Charlotte also spoke at the Hugh James Brain Injury Conference in 2023 and 2022. Charlotte has also provided training for charities such as Headway Cardiff and South East Wales, and case management companies. Charlotte is a board member for the Cardiff Ronald McDonald House and is a trustee for the Spinal Injury Charity Rookwood Spur.

Charlotte joined Hugh James as a paralegal in the Nursing Care Department in 2011 and dealt with NHS Continuing Healthcare Claims for three years before starting her training contract in September 2013. Charlotte spent the majority of her training contract in the Neurolaw Department at Hugh James dealing with both Court of Protection matters and catastrophic injury litigation.
